Types of fire pits.

Structural features
By way of the device fire pits are divided into two main groups:
Stationary — or built-in. Equips on the prepared area, usually in recess — campfire pit, can serve as a convenient holiday destination. Appears as an attractive original element of garden design. Stationary fireplace is arranged at ground level or higher, forming a stone elevation. The space around the bowl — not less than 1.5 m in diameter, filled with gravel and laid tiles.

Mobile — or portable. It is better to fit the definition of outdoor fireplaces. Performed in a bowl made of stone or metal and are supplied with feet. You can install them on any smooth surface — trodden ground, stone terrace, even on the table at any time to move to another place. However, for safety reasons it must be ensured so within a radius of 1.5 m from open flames are not flammable or combustible.
Dimensions of portable fireplaces variety: from tiny items, up to 15 cm, to design completely replaces the table. Recent often provided with a removable metal cover-plate. After removal of the ash from the bowl on top of the plate is fixed and the mobile fire turns into a convenient table.
To the fire pits are sometimes included devices running on liquid or gas fuel. Comprising such a structure from a closed housing which fits the cylinder with the fuel burner and burner bowls over. However, the sources of live fire this device does not belong.

Materials
Refractory brick — for lining stationary option, you can use any other stone, but in contact with the fire should only be this stuff. The temperature of the combustion of wood is about 800-900 C, coal — up to 1200 C. This heating can withstand not every stone.

Concrete — often used in homemade stationary fireplace.
Granite — the stone is widely used in a garden landscape, and finds such use. Fire pit of granite usually has the form of a bowl or flowerpot and secured in the ground. Move to another location it is possible, but not easy: the stone weighs considerably.

The refractory metal — the most popular option for portable designs. Durable enough light, flame-retardant material, besides having the highest decorative features. Wrought iron outdoor fireplaces can be extraordinarily beautiful. Cold forging products more affordable, as mainly include standard elements.

Hot forging — it’s always unique unique creation.
Ceramics — refractory grade successfully compete with the brick. From ceramics produced and mobile and stationary campfire bowl. Very interesting combination of materials: ceramic bowl and a metal frame with twisted legs, metal bowl with a ceramic mosaic.
